Miss Michigan Kirsten Haglund, a 19-year-old aspiring Broadway star from Farmington Hills, Michigan was crowned Miss America 2008 tonight at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The final night of Miss America Live! was broadcast from Las Vegas on TLC.

Kirsten’s triumphant walk across the stage was just the beginning of a journey that will take her to every corner of the country during her year of service as Miss America 2008. She will travel approximately 20,000 miles each month speaking to audiences about her platform of Raising Awareness of Eating Disorders and acting as the official National Goodwill Ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network. Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals, is the national platform partner of the Miss America Organization.

Kirsten is a student at University of Cincinnati. Her scholastic ambition is to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre and she ultimately hopes to become a Broadway performer. Along with the title of Miss America 2008, Kirsten won a $50,000 scholarship to continue her education. For the talent portion of the competition, Kirsten sang “Over the Rainbow.”

Odette Juliette Yustman was born on May 10, 1985 in Los Angeles County, California. She made her first film when she was only five years old, and it was with big action star Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film was Kindergarten Cop, but even though she could have followed her film debut with a string of projects, Yustman put off acting for awhile in order to concentrate on her studies.

After she graduated from high school, she eased her way back into the industry by working as a model. Eventually, she landed a role on the television series South Beach, and has since then guest-starred in several television shows, one of which is Monk. Her other film credits include The Holiday and Transformers. Currently, she can be seen regularly on the ABC series October Road.

She appears in the J. J. Abrams film Cloverfield as Beth McIntyre, and she’s going to give the monsters in “Cloverfield” a run for their money in the “must see” department. Take a look at Odette Yustman now, because you’re going to be seeing a whole lot more of this little lady in the future.

After a nine-year wait and months of feverish hype, a sell-out audience of almost 16,000 finally got to sample the new and improved Spice Girls as they kicked off their reunion world tour in the Canadian city.

The British quintet, playing together as a five-piece for the first time since 1998, met with a rapturous reception from the largely but by no means exclusively female crowd, who had paid around £50 each for tickets that reportedly sold out in seconds.

They performed for almost two hours, rattling through 22 songs including old favourites such as Spice Up Your Life and Wannabe as well a few covers and tracks the girls had recorded while pursuing solo careers.

The Girls may now be Women with marriages, children and solo careers under their belts, but they proved they can still strut their stuff with the best of them. Ten years is a long time in pop, however. Fashions change, outfits are regretted and six inch platform heels wear down.

Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko has been cast as the female lead in the new 007 movie, which will start principal photography under the working title “Bond 22.” Olga will play the dangerously alluring Camille, who challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper’s betrayal.

The still-technically-untitled Bond 22 is targeted for a November 7, 2008 release.

OLGA KURYLENKO recently co-starred opposite Timothy Olyphant in Hitman and opposite Elijah Wood in Paris, je t’aime. She also appeared in starring roles in Eric Barbier’s thriller The Serpent and Diane Bertrand’s The Ring Finger, for which she received the Best Actress award at The Brooklyn International Film Festival in 2006. She recently had a role in Tyranny, directed by John Beck Hofman.

Paris and Nicky Hilton arrived in Tokyo, Japan to launch their hand bag designs for Samantha on Nov. 5, 2007.

The party girl heiress sisters showed of the latest collection from the popular Japanese label as well as the handbags they have designed themselves.

The pair will be staying in Japan until Wednesday to continue with promotion and meeting fans for which they are each expected to be paid $500,000.

Nicky Hilton has worked hard this year to ensure people take her serious in the fashion industry. After making her New York Fashion Week debut with her high-end Nicholai line, she also unveiled a new collection from her Chick line at LA Fashion Week and then went on to show at Mexico and Russia.

Charlize Theron has an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award. Now she’s Esquire magazine’s “sexiest woman alive.”

The blond beauty is the latest of Esquire magazine’s annual picks for “sexiest woman alive” - a list that has included Jessica Biel, Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson.

During the past six months, the mag hinted at its choice with a series of photographic clues. The revealing November issue hits stands Tuesday with the full case for Theron’s sexiness - a slinky photo shoot by Sheryl Nields.

Although she may look perfect in a bikini, Theron, 32, says she has a few career flaws. She won an Oscar for “Monster,” but it’s not the only thing on her résumé. “I wanted to make the movie precisely because it evades formulas about guilt,” she said. “I’m drawn to ambiguity.”
